After seeing this race I have to be a fan of Tim's bots as well. How fast the Tigers out of the box are is something no one would have predicted before the season, I guess. And then, despite being extreme fast, Rat Race managed to use less tires than everyone else.

On another note. We have only two results submitted. I know Wolf-Dieter was out of town, but what about the others. Didn't you run the race? We really need more than two results to get some good indication of where the Teams stand.

      On Windows it's here: C:\Users\<your-user-name-here>\AppData\Local\torcs\results\endrace\results*.xml

For AppData to show up in Windows Explorer I think you have to set the "Show hidden files, folders and drives" option from "Folder Options / View / Hidden files and folders"

In Linux the results are in your home dir under .torcs/results/endrace.
.torcs is a hidden dir, so enable hidden dirs in your file manager.

Well, I'm wondering if the Tigers are too fast for their purpose in the competition this year... which is essentially to boost the number of cars in a race to make it more interesting. It wasn't my intention for them to be able to finish so high in the race rankings. Perhaps I should tone them down a bit more?

For the Mice in the last race the tyre wear was actually just a little worse than for your Robotec bots... the Mice just dared to push the tyre wear a bit more, to almost (but not quite) completely worn (100% wear with near to 100% graining). In the final few laps before pitting the lap-time drops considerably (around 3 or 4 seconds per lap slower than normal lap times), but I still calculated that it was faster overall to pit only 4 times rather than 5 (perhaps only by about 20 seconds or so over the whole race.) Of course, longer stints have another benefit that I felt was more important... it can result in a free overtake of opponents that are otherwise difficult to overtake. :)

If you make Tiger about half a second per minute slower, it will have some close races with Autobot.

My observation showed Rat Race had almost 10% less tire wear than Robotec, but maybe the changes I already made, made it worse ;)
I agree that a 4 pit stops strategy probably has the advantages you mentioned.

    Hi

I'm sorry. I run the race but I have just forgoten to submit the results. :(

    My results were :
    1 Rat Man
    2 Bobbin
    3 Robo_2
    4 Robo_1
    5 Tigger
    6 Tigger Too
    7 Lupo Bianco
    8 Auto_2
    9 Auto_1
    10 Sam
    11 Stan
    12 Lobo Malo
    13 Chonchon
    14 Speedy
    15 Jay Cob
    16 Jake Obb

what would have given the following final results :
Position (without my results) / Robot / Median position (without my results)
    1 (1) Bobbin : 1 (1)
    2 (2) Rat Man : 2 (2)
    3 (4) Robo_1 : 4 (5)
    4 (3) Tigger : 5 (4)
    4 (6) Robo_2 : 5 (6,5)
    6 (4) Tigger Too : 6 (5)
    7 (8) Lupo Bianco : 7 (7)
    8 (9) Auto_2 : 8 (9)
    9 (9) Auto_1 : 9 (9)
    10 (6) Lobo Malo : 10 (6,5)
    11 (11) Stan : 11 (11)
    12 (12) Sam : 12 (12)
    13 (13) Chonchon : 13 (13)
    14 (14) Speedy : 14 (14)
    15 (15) Jake Obb : 15 (15)
    16 (16) Jay Cob : 16 (16)

But I run it under Linux (Ubuntu) and my results are closer to Danny's ones than to Tim's ones. Maybe final results are more fair the way they are.

That being said, congrats to Tim for that 1-2-3 result !

    Eliam
